CIISec Appeals Process

The CIISec award of Associate, Full Membership and Fellowship is an accolade that will vouch for the information and cyber security professionalism, knowledge and skills of an individual. As such, this is not awarded lightly, and the assessment and interview processes have been designed to be rigorous. Similarly, CIISec acts as a Certification Body for the NCSC/CESG Certified Cyber Professional (CCP) scheme, which sets standards for a number of IA and cyber security roles across HMG.

The purpose of the Accreditation Committee (AC) is to ensure that a consistent standard is applied to all CIISec Associate, Full Member, Fellowship and CCP applications, assessments and interviews. The AC is responsible for ensuring that the standards expected by CIISec are maintained.

From time to time there may be cases where an applicant disagrees with the decision taken by the Accreditation Committee and wishes to appeal.

Appeals must be submitted within 60 days of receiving notification of an accreditation/certification decision and it should be noted that this will be subject to payment of an Appeal Registration fee of £50, which is returnable should the appeal be successful.

If you wish to make an appeal, please download the form below and send a signed copy via registered post, or scan and email it to [email protected]

Once your Appeal Handling Form has been received within CIISec, it will be acknowledged, the fee will be added to your account and you will be advised.  Once the payment has been received, the form will be passed to the Chair of the Appeals Handling Committee for an initial assessment.
